I think that the inverse of the original transform needs to be there to compensate for the scaling (i.e make bigger the normal if the original tranform makes the model smaller).
But then the normalisation invoked in the code shoulr only happen depending on the use of GL_NORMALIZE and GL_RESCALE_NORMAL.
I think I'm going to sleep over this.
