</span>It's fine to use the preload the plugin using the -e extension option.<br>
but this is just an example application that puts an image on a quad<br>
to render it, it won't retain anything about the coordinate<br>
transformation.<br>

I have just had a quick scan of the GDAL plugin and it doesn't process<br>
and or pass back the GeoTransform of the loaded GDALDataset so it's<br>
just the image data that is passed back, the transform it lost.<br>
Potentially this could be assign as user data to the Image, but this<br>
will required modifications to the plugin.<br>

The alternative is to just use GDAL directly. This is what tools like<br>
VirtualPlanetBuilder do, VirtualPlanetBuilder builds OSG paged<br>
databases from geospatial imagery and DEMs.<br>
