<div dir="ltr"><div><div>Hello all!<br><br>How do others work with the Extended Materials offered by Creator/OpenFlight?<br><br>We've been lately interested in understanding Presagis Creator modelling tool's Extended Materials feature. (Creator is used to manipulate OpenFlight files (.flt), the extended materials have been added in version 16.3 of the .flt specifications.)<br><br></div>For a while now we've been using the software to make our models, but in the last couple of years, our 3rd party artists have been pushing to add more WOW to the models by using the Extended Materials feature. <br><br></div><div>As far as I know, the OpenFlight reader plugin does not understand what those Extended Materials do, and I'm not yet knowledgeable enough of how OSG works to decide and go ahead and update the plugin so that everyone benefits from the new feature. <br><br></div><div>And from what I could see, it might not even be possible.<br><br></div><div>What I've thought, though was to extract the material data from the .flt when doing the flt-to-osg conversion, and keep track where it was applied, then when loading the OSG model in our software, load that data and apply shader programs to the relevant nodes. <br></div><div><br></div><div>Thanks!<br></div><br clear="all"><div><div><div><div><div><div class="gmail_signature"><div dir="ltr">--<br>Alexandre Vaillancourt<br></div></div></div>
