[osg-users] OSG forum error: phpBB : Critical Error - Could not connect to the database

Hi Guys,

I'm a bit out of the mix right now as I'm in Spain on a 2 week family
holiday (arrived this morning very early).  I have web  access so each
day should be able to pop online and reply to emails, but won't have
much scope for doing much direct work.

It might be time for us to move to a new solution for mailing
list/forums.  Whether we host the solution ourselves or use a third
party I can't say, I'm open to both, also have no recommendations for
solutions for the actual software to go for.

Can Joomla take over mailing list/forum?

In the last year Github bought out a company that develops community
forums etc. they was suggestion that they'd integrate this with
Github.  Just done a quick search but can't recall the software in
question.  Anyone else remember?

Such changes are realistically mid to longer term solutions, right now
the quickest would be to get the old server backonline and then
migrate to a server where we have full control.  We have the dreamhost
servers we can potentially place services on.

Long term I'd like to see us with well integrated and easy to maintain
solutions.  I appreciate input on both the short term fixing of the
forum server and the longer term suggestions on what might be viable.
