I would not say "long ago" in general. We moved recently to Qt5. There are several aspects to take in account: win10 support (from qt5.5 on if I remember correctly), supported compilers, ... and so on. Moreover there is also an LGPL license.
I would suggest to support Qt5 from a certain OSG version, but create a branch of the latest osgQt that supports Qt4.
