Thank you for your advice. I can safely execute it.
I am now considering to add the following two functions.
(1) I would like to display a rubber-band so that I understand the
rectangular selection part.
(2) I would like to change the color of selected objects temporarily so
that I understand the selected part.

As for (1), it is written that is is possible to realize using
osg::Plane in the one of the articles in your forum:
