[osg-users] Create a scalebar for a 3D model

Hi,

I have to create a scale bar just like the one at the bottom of google maps. I am showing a neuronal structure in 3D and would like to tell the user the size of the structure. As the user zooms in and zooms out the relationship between viewed size and actual size will be updated exactly as in google maps. The problem is that the sctructure is 3D and people can look at it from different angles and distances. I can imagine doing a scalebar for a flat surface by finding the camera distance from the plane but for a 3D model, there is no such plane, or is there? I need some idea about how to do this.
